I’ve been doing this for awhile now, and with the exception of a recipe here or there, this blog is primarily about my children, about our everyday life, and being a mother. Today however is the start of something new.. atleast for a little bit anyway. Starting today – and every Thursday following ( For 10 Thursdays) I am going to blog about Just me. Because sometimes it’s easy to feel like ‘just mom’ when you have little ones.
I am calling this Ten things thursday because I will be posting 10 random facts about myself, as a person, not just a mom.. Because I thought maybe you’d like to get to know me. If you want to join me during this project, and do your own ” ten things thursday” post – I would love to get to know you too. Just title your post as I have done, and have fun, just leave me a comment linking back to your Ten things post. with that being said, here we go
1. I have a habit of becoming obsessed with shows, after they’re off the air, or after hundreds of people have been watching it for long periods of time. Case in point- “Lost” I recently watched the first pilot episode on instant netflix and immediately spent the remainder of my free time that night watching the entire first disk and half of the second disk of season 1
2. I have to am supposed to wear glasses whenever I am reading, watching tv, or driving/in the car otherwise my eyes can’t take the extra concentration these tasks call for, and I get terrible migraines. Dibilitating, laying in bed, in a dark room crying type migraines.
3. I’ve always wanted to blog, even before I really started reading other people’s blogs. I started out with an account on blogspot and actually signed up for that account 2 years ago but didn’t write my first post until my youngest son was 6.5 months old (he’s 16.5 now) I just never seemed to get around to blogging, even after my youngest was born I would say “one day I’ve got to start posting on there” I really wanted to start documenting his life from day one, and ours as a family a long time ago. It wasnt until my husband found out he was set to deploy a month (to the day), before our baby had his first birthday did I begin to post regularly. what started out as us trying to document our lives for ourselves and our distant family became a way for my husband to watch our children grow while he’s away
4. My oldest son (Jon) was born in June of 2000. In July of 2000 I turned 16. My husband is not his biological father, but he is his dad.
5. I don’t live near any of my family. My closest relatves are actually my in-laws who live in Florida.
6. this is not really about me BUT..My youngest son was 2 weeks overdue, his original due date was february 5th. he finally decided to come the night before I was scheduled to be induced. ( was admitted a little past midnight and his induction was set for 7 hours later) and of all the days he chose to come, of all the days I couldve been scheduled to have him – he came on a day that is also the birthday of My sister, and my husbands brother. so yes february 17th is a big day for celebration within our family.
7. I am afraid of heights. and I am claustrophobic – I once had a catscan because I had kidney stones – and the kidney stones were not the worst part of that day!
8. I was born in Tennessee, spent three years in Italy (due to a military parent) and landed in NC where I’ve remained for nearly 14 years. Leaving only briefly to spend 3 months in NY, and a year in TX.
9. I have tattoos. Some of which I regret ever getting, but you live and you learn, and (in this case atleast) you can’t change the past.
10. Depending on who you ask, I do have an accent, though, depending on who you ask, it could be from TN, and it could be from NC.
