I'm Back!

Ok. Now that I've neglected this blog for a month, I'm back.

Seriously though I didn't stop posting just for fun. I have been so incredibly sick, this pregnancy really did knock me down, I had the worst nausea ALL.DAY.LONG. accompanied by migraines. Laying in a dark silent room crying my eyes out migraines. Neither of my previous pregnancies have been like this (maybe this time we're having a girl?) Anyway I spent the last 4-5 weeks literally sleeping my days away to avoid the nausea & migraines - which were set off by even the smallest things. It got to the point that I had been in my bed so much, I was starting to forget what the rest of my house looked like. The good news is I am feeling better (knock on wood!) So I can get back to posting.

Kiddie pool disaster

I'm going to enlist help once again.

We've got a standard hard plastic little kiddie pool in the backyard for our youngest. It is a nightmare! The water lasts 24 hours at most before it either smells awful, is green, or has a slimy film on the bottom of the pool/any toys left in the pool. This is our first kiddie pool so maybe that's typical, but I can't help but think it's not? If people were having to refill these pools pretty much everyday why would they be popular?

We love our kids, obviously seeing as we're spending half an hour dumping this pool and refilling it every time he wants to play in it, but come on! It really does take half an hour to dump because it does not have a little drain, and if you don't empty it bucket by bucket first it's too heavy to pick up and empty. Not to mention we're flooding our very sparse already grass everyday, and killing our electric bill filling it that often.

If you have a kiddie pool, or just know of a way to keep it clean longer please share. I've thought of adding a TINY bit of bleach or something similiar, but honestly I'm kind of leary about that.

Sleeping instead of blogging.

Things move on.

I've felt so out of sorts the last couple weeks. I haven't had any "real" morning sickness yet, but I have random bouts of nausea wash over me numerous times a day. I will probably regret saying this, but I'm starting to feel like it would be better to actually have full on morning sickness. Perhaps gross, but when you're nauseous and throw up, you feel better. Oh and I can't stay awake for anything!

I sleep (or think about it) all the time. I'm going to bed much earlier than I ever did before this little babe and think about napping all day. On weekends when my husband is home I've gone and laid back down after getting the boys breakfast and slept til lunch or later.

Seriously I am impressed with all the ladies who have been pregnant while chasing around toddlers or even more impressive numerous small children. This is a whole different ballgame for me. My oldest was 8.5 when I had our youngest little guy. 8.5 is practically grown! Okay maybe not but I was not chasing him around, or needing to constantly look in on him. Pregnancy with a 2 year old under foot is tiring!

Sounds like a lot of complaining huh? Just stating the facts. We're really excited for this little babe though and cannot wait to have more info to share.

4 + 1 = ?

I haven't been in a blogging mood lately. My mind is mush currently and I feel a bit run down. I could seriously sleep for an entire day if given the chance. There is a reason for all of this of course.

We're expecting baby number 3!

It's still very early (we just recently found out) but I cannot keep things a surprise. I'll update later.

House Project # 1

IMG_1366

I've wanted a huge chalkboard in my house for - forever. Wasn't happening in our apartment but that's not a problem anymore is it? I've always liked chalkboard walls, but I wasn't sure I could committ to such a large area being painted (incase I didn't like how it turned out)

So I did the next best thing (and maybe it's been done exactly like this before - but I decided on this myself and I'm pretty happy with the outcome) Incase you're curious I'll tell you how we did it. Well the jist of it anyway, no detailed tutorial, it's a chalkboard afterall.

- I measured out the space I wanted as the actual chalkboard. I wanted it large, and this wall was perfect its the partial wall in our dining room/living room - right behind the open kitchen.

- Painted two coats of chalkboard paint.

- Bought molding at home depot (it's pretty cheap) My husband measured it, and cut it to size with an electric saw.

- We hung it up with finishing nails, conditioned & wiped the board and now it's set to go!

(and yes there is an electrical outlet in the middle of it. That was unavoidable if we wanted a good spot to put the chalkboard. We'll slap some outlet plugs in there and it'll be just fine.)

Home Improvement Help.

So here I am, a day later than I said (which is totally normal of me) with a question that I really need some input on. Paint! I've painted all of our bedrooms in the new house over the last couple weeks which was pretty easy, as far as picking the colors go. Now I want to paint our Living room, which has been so much trouble! I've looked at so many colors my eyes are bleeding. I've even uploaded pictures to programs where I can test colors in our actual rooms needing to be painted and I'm still lost.

I can find colors I like but then I worry if it'll be terrible after it's all said and done. That alone would really suck - to paint an entire room and have to repaint it, our living room however would make that mistake 100 times worse. Here's why..

Our living room is kind of open, as in no part of it is enclosed and it shares a wall with numerous other parts of our home. It's completely open to the dining room and two sets of stairs and an upstairs hallway. So I have to pick a paint that I'd be able to live with throughout all of these rooms! There really isnt much of an option on not painting the conjoining rooms. help me. Any color suggestions (brand name/color) would be soo appreciated.

heres a good view of 90% of the living room - see how one wall connects all the way to the stairs & hallway upstairs, and then there's the high entry way area.

IMG_0437
the view into the dining room (standing in the living room) see? all connected. there's no closed off area that makes it possible to have different colors or for it not to be weird to only paint the living room.

IMG_1346
A reference to the color of our furniture. They're a dark olive green. This is important to keep in mind so the walls don't clash against the couches.

IMG_1344
our living room curtains. Also important to keep in mind to make sure the room, decor, and paint have a cohesive look. There's little splashes of green throughout the curtain - it's just hard to tell in the picture. The red parts are making it hard to pick a color also.

so- any advice? I don't want to buy new curtains, These are fairly new. Just f.y.i

One of those days..

Today was one of those days - the kind that test your nerves repeatedly and when the day is done you find yourself actually surprised you didn't have any major meltdowns.

Our youngest who was potty trained before his second birthday (which is in February) was having such a great time playing on the couch beside me that he obviously didn't realize or pay attention to the fact he needed to use the bathroom. Yup. He peed all over the couch. The kid didn't even show any signs of needing to go or that he was going.. he just casually got up, looked at me with a concerned face and said "Pee on the couch, bad." I spent the rest of my morning scrubbing that out.

it stormed again. We're talking lights flickering/going out for a few minutes a couple of times today (including right in the middle of cooking dinner - with our electric stove) It has seriously stormed here every other day for the last few weeks a couple of those days we were also blessed with hail storms.

I have to finish painting the rest of our master bedroom. The walls are done, but I've also started painting the baseboards & trim and all the doors & door frames (its an old house, been empty a long while - so all the "white" paint is yellowish or just plain terrible) our bedroom stuff is spread from our room to the upstairs hallway until it's painted and it can be moved back. I hope that's soon because my toes cannot take anymore of me banging them on nightstands & such walking through the dark hallway at night.

Anyway that's the jist of my day today. No cute pictures or warm and fuzzy stories to share. However if you're here, reading this come back tomorrow, because I need a little home decorating help which I will post more on tomorrow. Seriously ladies , I need you because if I keep asking my husband for his opinions on house stuff we're going to be in trouble.
