Starting new.

So I've been pretty quiet lately. It's because we have spent so much time investing ourselves into the house we just bought. If you've never bought a house let me tell you it is exhausting. The whole process! and it is an impatient person's worst nightmare. So much waiting. We closed at the end of May though and we are officially moving on Saturday (the 11th of June)

We've been cramped into a 3 bedroom apartment for our entire married life and I am so excited to start this next chapter in our lives together as a family. Somehow buying a house, putting down roots and making new memories in OUR home somehow makes it all feel legit. We're grown ups!

Tomorrow I will be working like a mad woman to finish painting the boys rooms at the new house and packing up the few remaining things here at our apartment before Saturday.

Here are a few pictures of our new home. Which I hope will bring a much needed feeling of peace to me and my little family. To have our own space, that reflects all of our personalities and passions will hopefully bring a new energy to our lately stressful lives.

house tour 3

Our main living room - and our red front door. There's just something charming about a red front door isn't there? This living room is up a few stairs from the front door, and has a great little bay window and lots of natural light :) The second set of stairs leads to the bedrooms.

Our "den" which will also just serve as another living space but will be mainly for the boys and their toys. The house is older - so the bedrooms are all a bit on the small side, so it works out to have this den. Added bonus? for our 11 year old who loves to stay in his room doing pre-teen boy (too cool for hanging out with your parents) type stuff -it'll mean we get to see more of him. Half of this room is exposed brick - but unfortunately it was painted over - many times.

Our kitchen. Pretty self explainitory. It's not the biggest or the best (it doesn't even have a dish washer!) but for the immediate future it has what we need and doesn't look too bad. It is also on the smaller side. But considering we have been apartment dwellers for over 4 years I guess we're used to small kitchens and truth be told? I love a smaller house (just not apartment small), it's very quaint and feels intimate. You end up spending more time together.

-I will post again after we've had some time to settle into the new place and maybe post pictures of it all decorated.

(I've also still got pictures of a little camping trip, an 11th birthday party, and a pretty entertaining two year old coming sometimes soon-ish?)
